FAQ
Quick answers about the calculator.
What is BMR?
Basal metabolic rate — an estimate of calories your body uses at rest to maintain basic functions.
What is TDEE?
Total daily energy expenditure — your BMR plus the calories you burn being active. It's a rough picture of the calories you need to maintain your weight.
Why Mifflin–St Jeor?
It's one of the most common equations for adults, and it usually matches lab measurements of calories burned at rest pretty well.
What about Harris–Benedict?
We show the revised Harris–Benedict BMR as an alternate. Numbers can differ slightly; both are estimates.
Are macros required?
No. The protein/carbs/fat split is optional guidance (~30/40/30 of TDEE) and not personalized.
